How to Install

Important: Project Zomboid's permadeath means this save drops you directly into an already-established Day 365+ world — check that your sandbox settings (zombie population, XP multiplier) roughly match the ones used to build it to avoid a difficulty mismatch, and back up your current save first since replacing it can't be undone.

1
Fully close Project Zomboid.
2
Navigate to C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Zomboid\Saves\ (some installs instead use AppData\LocalLow\Project Zomboid\SaveGames — check both if one doesn't exist).
3
Backup your existing Saves folder by copying it to your desktop.
4
Download and extract the .zip file — it contains a full sandbox world save folder.
5
Copy the extracted folder into Zomboid\Saves\Sandbox\ (or the matching game-mode subfolder).
6
Launch Project Zomboid → Load, and select the imported save.
7
Your survivor loads into the fortified base on Day 365+ with all skills, supplies, and traits intact.

Skill leveling: Project Zomboid skills level from 0 to 10 through repeated use and by reading skill magazines/books, which grant temporary XP multipliers per skill. Reaching Level 9–10 across multiple skill trees legitimately requires hundreds of in-game days of consistent practice — this save represents that long-term investment already banked, on top of a base built to support further survival.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Project Zomboid save file safe to use?
Yes. Project Zomboid singleplayer saves are local sandbox files with no anti-cheat, so replacing your save is completely safe for your Steam account. It's intended for singleplayer sandbox play, not for injecting into a multiplayer server without admin access.
Where is the Project Zomboid save file location on PC?
Saves are usually at C:\Users\[Username]\Zomboid\Saves\, with an alternate location at AppData\LocalLow\Project Zomboid\SaveGames on some installs. Steam App ID 108600.
Will this work with mods installed?
This save was built on a vanilla Build 42 setup. Loading it with mods that alter map layout, items, or skill systems can cause conflicts or missing-item errors — for best results, load it without mods first, or match your mod list to a vanilla-compatible set.
What is the "One Year Later" achievement?
It's a Steam achievement awarded for keeping a single character alive for 365 in-game days from the start of a save. Given Project Zomboid's permadeath, this is one of the game's most respected long-term survival milestones.
Will zombies still wander into my base after I load this?
Yes. The simulation keeps running — zombie population, weather, and the passage of time all continue from where the save left off, so ongoing base defense and resource management are still up to you.
What build version is this save on?
Build 42, the current major branch as of September 2026. It may not be compatible with older Build 41 saves due to changes in map data and item systems between builds.
Is the base location fixed or can I move?
The included base is a walled-off, fully barricaded compound with reinforced entry points and rooftop access removed — you're free to keep using it, loot further afield, or relocate once you're playing.
Does this work for multiplayer?
The file is a singleplayer sandbox save. Using it on a dedicated or hosted multiplayer server requires the server admin to manually replace the server's save data, which is handled differently from a local save.
About Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid has been in Early Access since 2013, developed by the UK-based Indie Stone. It's an isometric, open-world zombie survival RPG set in the fictional Knox County, Kentucky, quarantine zone, known for its unforgiving permadeath and one of the deepest survival simulations in the genre — tracking hunger, thirst, fatigue, boredom, unhappiness, injuries, and infection all independently.

Character progression runs through ten separate skill trees covering combat, crafting, and survival, each leveling from 0 to 10 through use and by reading in-world skill magazines and books, which grant temporary XP boosts. Traits chosen at character creation — both positive and negative — shape playstyle, and the extensive sandbox settings let players tune zombie population, speed, and loot rarity to taste, from a relaxed builder experience to the brutally lethal "Apocalypse" preset.

Surviving to Day 365 and beyond with multiple skills at Level 9-10 and a genuinely defensible base represents a real achievement, since zombie numbers climb over time, resources deplete, and one bad encounter can permanently end a character with no respawns. This save skips the fragile early-game scramble for players who want to dive straight into late-game base defense, high-level crafting, and long-term survival strategy.
