C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Prey\Save structure: Prey stores each save slot in its own numbered folder under Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Prey\, not tied to your Steam ID, so no renaming is required. The save contains Neuromod installation data, Human and Typhon ability unlocks, inventory, crafting resources, area exploration flags, and the moral choice tracker.
C:\Users\[Username]\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Prey\, with each save slot in its own subfolder. Steam App ID 480490.Prey is an immersive-sim first-person action game developed by Arkane Studios (Dishonored, Deathloop) and published by Bethesda Softworks, released in May 2017. A creative reimagining bearing only its title in common with the 2006 game of the same name, it casts players as Morgan Yu, a researcher aboard the space station Talos I who wakes up to find the facility overrun by the Typhon — a shape-shifting alien species capable of disguising themselves as ordinary objects.
The game's signature mechanic is the Mimic enemy, a small Typhon that can perfectly imitate mundane props like coffee mugs or chairs, creating constant tension in exploration. Progression is driven by Neuromods, which grant skill points spendable across Human trees (Scientist, Engineer, Security) or, more riskily, Typhon abilities like Mimic Matter (letting the player themselves transform into objects) and various psychic powers — though installing Typhon Neuromods can make the player detectable by security systems and alters the story's available endings. Talos I is designed as a tightly interconnected space station rather than a series of levels, with the GUTS exterior zero-gravity sections allowing shortcuts between areas.
100% completion means installing every available Neuromod across all skill categories, exploring every compartment of the station both inside and out, collecting every audio log, email, and Psychoscope-scannable entry, completing all side quests including the various crew-member fates, and making moral choices throughout that lead to one of the game's more favorable endings. A completionist playthrough runs approximately 20-25 hours. Prey also received a well-regarded story DLC, Mooncrash, though that features a separate roguelike structure distinct from the main campaign save covered here.
