How to Install

Important: Planet Zoo's Franchise Mode links save data across all your zoos through a shared franchise file. Back up your existing Save folder completely before copying anything over — restoring individual zoo files without the matching franchise data can cause the game to report missing or corrupted saves.

1
Fully close Planet Zoo.
2
Navigate to your save folder: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\Planet Zoo\Save\ (paste into Windows Explorer).
3
Back up your entire existing Save folder by copying it to your desktop.
4
Download and extract the .zip file, which contains the franchise save data plus individual .zooSave files for each zoo.
5
Copy all extracted files into your Save folder, replacing existing files with matching names.
6
Launch Planet Zoo and select Continue Franchise (or Load Game for Career/Sandbox saves) from the main menu.

Note: Franchise Mode is Planet Zoo's persistent, cross-zoo career layer — animals, conservation points, and franchise value carry over between zoo locations within it. If you only play Career Mode or Sandbox, you can ignore the franchise files and just load the individual scenario .zooSave files included in the pack instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Planet Zoo save file safe to use?
Yes. Planet Zoo is a single-player management game with no anti-cheat or online save validation, so loading a downloaded save is completely safe for your Steam account.
Where is the Planet Zoo save file location on PC?
Saves are stored at C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Planet Zoo\Save\, split between Career Mode scenario saves, Franchise Mode saves, and Sandbox saves, all using the .zooSave extension. Steam App ID 703080.
Are all DLC animals included?
Yes, for any DLC you own on Steam. The save includes populations of animals from packs like the Arctic Pack, South America Pack, Southeast Asia Animal Pack, Australia Pack, and Grasslands Animal Pack, alongside the full base-game roster of 65+ species. DLC you don't own simply won't display those animals, same as normal.
What does 100% completion mean in Planet Zoo?
It covers three layers: every Career Mode scenario completed at a high star rating, Franchise Mode built out with multiple thriving zoos and maxed conservation credits, and every animal species across owned DLC bred into a healthy, genetically diverse population with high welfare scores.
Are the animal populations genetically healthy?
Yes. Planet Zoo tracks genetic diversity per species to discourage inbreeding depression; the included populations are set up with enough distinct bloodlines per enclosure to avoid genetic decay, matching what a dedicated conservation-focused player would maintain.
Will this overwrite my Franchise Mode progress?
If you copy the included franchise files directly over your own, yes — that's why backing up your existing Save folder first is essential. If you'd rather keep your current franchise and just borrow the Career/Sandbox saves, only copy over the non-franchise .zooSave files.
Do I need all the DLC packs for this save to work?
No. The save will load correctly with just the base game; you'll simply see fewer animal exhibits populated in zoos that reference DLC-exclusive species you don't own.
Can I keep building after loading this save?
Yes, all zoos remain fully editable. The included progress is a strong starting point for further expansion, conservation grinding, or creative building, not a locked end-state.
About Planet Zoo

Planet Zoo is a construction and management simulation game developed by Frontier Developments, released in November 2019 as a spiritual successor to Zoo Tycoon. Players design and manage zoos, balancing realistic animal welfare simulation (habitat size, terrain variety, enrichment items, social needs) against the practical demands of running a profitable, guest-friendly attraction, all rendered with Frontier's detailed piece-by-piece building tools inherited from the Planet Coaster engine.

The game's standout feature is its animal welfare model: each of its 65+ (and, with DLC, 180+) species has individually simulated needs around habitat terrain, enrichment, social grouping, and genetics, with a full breeding and genetic diversity system meant to mirror real conservation biology. Franchise Mode layers a persistent meta-game on top, letting players manage a network of zoos, trade animals between them via a in-game marketplace, and earn Conservation Credits used to protect endangered species in the wild — one of the more distinctive systems in the management-sim genre.

Since launch, Frontier has released a long line of DLC packs, each adding real-world animal species grouped by region (Arctic, South America, Southeast Asia, Australia, Grasslands, Aquatic, and more) along with matching scenery and Career Mode scenarios. Reaching full completion means finishing every Career scenario, building out a thriving Franchise network with maxed conservation progress, and successfully breeding every owned species into healthy, sustainable populations — an undertaking that can span 150+ hours for players who own the full DLC catalog.
