James Sunderland receives a letter from his wife Mary, asking him to meet her in their "special place" in the town of Silent Hill. The problem is that Mary has been dead for three years.
James explores a fog-covered town, an apartment complex, a hospital and a prison, fighting creatures that seem to come from his own mind. The remake uses an over-the-shoulder camera and new combat, while keeping the original's story, characters and music by Akira Yamaoka, who returned to rework the score.
