How to Install

Important: Nioh 2 on PC verifies that a save file belongs to your Steam ID. A downloaded save from another account will show an "Unable to load System Save File — This is another player's save file" error if loaded directly. Follow the steps below carefully to install successfully. Disable Steam Cloud and your internet connection before starting.

1
In Steam, right-click Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition → Properties → General → disable Steam Cloud. Also go to Steam → Go Offline to disconnect from the internet.
2
Download and extract the .zip file to your desktop.
3
Navigate to your save folder: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\KoeiTecmo\NIOH2\Savedata\[your-steam-id]\SAVEDATA00\ — you should see SAVEDATA.BIN and BACKUP.BIN inside.
4
Backup your entire NIOH2 folder by copying it to your desktop before proceeding.
5
Copy the SAVEDATA.BIN from the extracted ZIP into your SAVEDATA00\ folder, overwriting the existing file.
6
Launch Nioh 2 while still in offline mode. If you see the ownership error, close the game, rename BACKUP.BIN to SAVEDATA.BIN (after backing up the original) and try again. Re-enable Steam Cloud and internet after your first successful save.

Why offline mode? Nioh 2's save ownership check is tied to your Steam session. Launching in offline mode prevents the game from performing a live Steam ID validation against the save file, which is what triggers the "another player's save" error. This is the method confirmed by the Nioh 2 Steam Community and Nexus Mods. Once you save the game in-game, the file gets re-signed with your Steam ID and works normally online from then on.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Nioh 2 save file safe to use?
Yes. Nioh 2 has no competitive anti-cheat ban system for save file usage. The game does perform a Steam ID ownership check on save files, but this is a data integrity measure, not an anti-cheat system. Following the offline install method means zero ban risk — once the game re-signs the save with your ID, it works identically to a normally progressed save.
Where is the Nioh 2 save file location on PC?
Nioh 2 saves are in your Documents folder at %USERPROFILE%\Documents\KoeiTecmo\NIOH2\Savedata\[your-steam-id]\SAVEDATA00\. Inside you'll find SAVEDATA.BIN (your active save) and BACKUP.BIN (automatic backup from the previous session). Unlike most games the save is not in AppData — it's in Documents\KoeiTecmo.
Are all 3 DLCs completed?
Yes. All three paid DLC expansions are 100% completed on all required difficulties. Tengu's Disciple adds the Splitstaff weapon and the Tengu region. Darkness in the Capital adds Fist weapons and sends you back to Heian-era Kyoto. The First Samurai is the climactic finale revealing Otakemaru's origins and the truth behind the first samurai — all are done on Dream of the Samurai, Dream of the Strong and Dream of the Demon as required for DLC achievements.
What is Dream of Nioh and how hard is it?
Dream of Nioh is the game's fourth and hardest difficulty — unlocked by completing Dream of the Wise (NG+3). Enemy scaling is extreme, with significantly higher damage and health, and the Underworld endgame area only becomes available here. The Way of the Vanquisher achievement requires completing the brutal "Against All Comers" side mission on Dream of the Demon, which pits you against champion versions of every region's major bosses back-to-back — considered one of the hardest challenges in the entire game. All of this is completed in this save.
Are all Underworld and Depths floors cleared?
Yes. All 108 floors of the Underworld (Nioh 2's challenge dungeon, unlocked in Dream of Nioh) and all 30 floors of the Depths of the Underworld are cleared, with all Blessings of the Underworld acquired. These are the most time-intensive endgame activities in the game, typically requiring a fully optimized build and hundreds of additional hours beyond the main campaign.
Is max proficiency achieved on all 11 weapon types?
Yes. Maximum proficiency is reached on all 11 weapon types — Sword, Dual Swords, Spear, Axe, Odachi, Kusarigama, Switchglaive, Tonfa, Hatchet, Splitstaff (DLC) and Fists (DLC) — unlocking all Mystic Arts for each weapon class. Onmyo Magic and Ninjutsu Mystic Arts are also unlocked. This alone typically represents 50–100 hours of targeted farming.
About Nioh 2: The Complete Edition

Nioh 2: The Complete Edition is an action RPG developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo, released on PC via Steam on February 5, 2021. A prequel to the original Nioh, the game follows a half-human, half-yokai protagonist known only as Hide during Japan's Sengoku period — a time of civil war, supernatural chaos and feudal ambition. The Complete Edition bundles the base game with all three paid DLC expansions: Tengu's Disciple, Darkness in the Capital and The First Samurai.

Nioh 2 is built around one of the most complex and rewarding combat systems in the action genre — featuring 11 weapon types each with three stances, a Ki Pulse system demanding precise timing, Yokai Shift transformations that let you tap into supernatural power, and a Soul Core system for absorbing enemy abilities. The game layers traditional Soulslike challenge onto a deep action framework that rewards mastery far beyond pattern recognition.

Achieving 100% completion in Nioh 2 is among the most demanding feats in modern action gaming. Beyond clearing all missions across five difficulties and three DLC regions, true completion requires maxing out proficiency on all 11 weapon types, finding every Kodama and Hot Spring, clearing all 108 Underworld floors plus the 30 Depths floors, completing the brutal "Against All Comers" challenge on Dream of the Demon, and unlocking all 88 achievements — a journey spanning 200–400+ hours of dedicated play.
