About Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise is an action RPG developed and published by Capcom, originally released for Nintendo Switch in 2021 before coming to PC and other platforms in 2022. Set in the Japanese-inspired village of Kamura, it tasks hunters with tracking and taking down increasingly dangerous monsters using an arsenal of 14 distinct weapon types.

Rise introduced the Wirebug, a grappling-hook tool enabling fast aerial traversal and new combat maneuvers, alongside the Palamute canine companion for faster map traversal. The Sunbreak expansion, released in 2022, added the hub town of Elgado, raised the difficulty ceiling to Master Rank, and introduced the endgame Anomaly Research investigation system for long-term progression.

Known for its accessible onboarding relative to earlier entries while retaining the series' deep gear-crafting loop, Monster Hunter Rise bridged the gap between Monster Hunter World's mainstream breakout and the series' next mainline entry, Monster Hunter Wilds.
