How to Install

Important: Disable Steam Cloud for The Last of Us Part I before installing to prevent it from overwriting the new save. Back up your existing savedata folder before proceeding. If the save folder does not yet exist, launch the game once to generate it, then exit and replace.

1
In Steam, right-click The Last of Us Part I → Properties → General → disable Steam Cloud.

Chapter Select and Encounter Select both remain available post-completion for any cleanup or revisiting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this The Last of Us Part I save file safe to use?
Yes. The Last of Us Part I is a fully single-player game with no competitive online mode. There is no anti-cheat or ban system. Using a downloaded save carries zero risk.
Where is The Last of Us Part I save file location on PC?
The save folder is at %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\The Last of Us Part I\users\[your-steam-id]\savedata\. This uses the Windows Saved Games folder — not AppData or Documents, which is unusual compared to most PC games. Steam App ID is 1888930.
Does difficulty affect achievements in The Last of Us Part I on PC?
No — and this is a major difference from the original 2013 game and the PS4 remaster. The Part I remake on PC does not require completing the game on Survivor or Grounded difficulty for any achievement. All 29 achievements can be earned on any difficulty, including Very Light. This also means there is no need for multiple playthroughs purely for difficulty-based reasons.
Are any collectibles or achievements missable?
Nothing is permanently missable. Chapter Select is available after completing the story, letting you replay any chapter to collect missed items. Encounter Select lets you replay specific combat sections. When using Chapter Select, later chapters become locked, but loading the Autosave Backup restores your furthest progress point. This save has everything already collected, but these features remain available.
Is Left Behind included and what does it add?
Yes, fully completed. Left Behind is the prequel DLC included with the Part I remake, following Ellie and her best friend Riley in the days before the main game. It adds its own collectibles — 4 Artifacts, Optional Conversations and the unique joke sequences with Riley — and contributes two achievements: That's All I Got (survive all of Ellie's jokes without skipping) and the story completion achievement. All Left Behind content is done in this save.
Does this work with the latest patch?
Yes. Tested on the latest available PC patch as of April 2026. The PC version ported by Iron Galaxy has received multiple stability and performance patches since its March 2023 launch. We update saves within 48 hours if a new patch breaks compatibility.
About The Last of Us Part I

The Last of Us Part I is a complete remake of Naughty Dog's landmark 2013 survival thriller, rebuilt from the ground up for PlayStation 5 and ported to PC by Iron Galaxy, releasing on Steam in March 2023. Set in a post-pandemic United States overrun by a fungal infection that transforms hosts into aggressive creatures, the game follows Joel — a hardened survivor haunted by personal tragedy — as he escorts teenage Ellie across a dangerous, decaying America. The emotional bond that develops between them across four seasons of harrowing travel is widely considered one of gaming's finest stories.

The Part I remake dramatically upgrades character models and animation to match motion capture actors more closely, adds ray tracing and significant lighting improvements, and includes six new miscellaneous achievements replacing the original's difficulty and multiplayer trophies. The Left Behind DLC — the acclaimed prequel starring Ellie and Riley — is included. The remake retains the game's tense resource management, stealth-first combat and crafting system, while adding extensive accessibility options including high contrast mode that highlights collectibles.

Full 100% completion in a single playthrough is entirely achievable without difficulty-gating — a deliberate design choice that differentiates the remake from the original. Collecting all 245 collectibles requires methodical exploration through each of the game's regions, with careful shiv management to open locked doors and enough parts to fully upgrade at least one weapon. Chapter Select and Encounter Select provide a clean cleanup system for anything missed on a first pass.
